Staying Awake on a Tuesday Morning
Journal Entry: Tue Jul 22, 2008, 10:01 AM
It's harder then it seems...the staying awake part. Working at the college and summer hours suck. 6:30 to 5:00...yeah. Oh and the whole lack of students and people in general around.
Anyway, to keep my self at least busy looking I have been going through my photos and looking for ones to post. As always I am so far behind on this so prepare yourselves for a minor flood of deviations.
In other news, I am extremely frustrated with my video production business. Especially the people at the theatre where I am supposed to record a play this weekend. I taped the last production they put on and the response to the DVD was overwhelmingly negative.
The director wanted me to do the taping as opposed to the guy who normally does it because she wasn't happy with him and his work. All the comments I have gotten are...well, it's not like Dave does it. "Why did you make it widescreen? I don't like widescreen." "High Definition? That's nice but it doesn't look as good as what Dave shot" (with his five year old handycam) "those extra features are ok, but Dave didn't put things like that in" and it goes on and on and on.
Personally, I thought it looked good and the one person who loved it was the person who is new to the community and this was her first play here.
Asking last night about if they had an output on their audio board which I could plug into to get direct sound from the mics.."well, Dave has a system ask him how he does things."
So basically, I am calling the theater director today and asking do you really want me to do this because the response I am getting is no one is better then Dave no matter what I do. I find it personally and professionally insulting that an amateur with a handy cam can do no wrong but if I try to bring professional production values to something it's seen as too much change. And it all basically boils down to I'm not part of the theater clique and no matter what I do it won't be as good as Dave.
It seems that is the biggest obstacle I have to overcome doing any video work in the tri-village area. Which basically means I really need to expand my area to make my video production business a full time job.
I guess a little bit of a rant gets the blood a moving and wakes me up a bit too.

But now it's continuously trembling.
Now you've fixed it.
